I have been busy lately, and I feel really guilty that I haven't been able to spend time on my cookbook. I have narrowed it down to what I know best....baking. I have no idea what kind of a market is out there for baking books, so I went to Chapters to check out what kind of books already exist. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing...thoughts anyone? It seemed intimidating to look at all of the beautiful covers with fancy designs and stuff. Lulu has some tips that I will need to read over...and memorize! I also found that there are some websites specific to book cover design for self publishers. I guess that it's wrong to be worrying about the cover of my book first. Well, first I worried about WHAT I was going to write about, NOW, I'm worrying about what it's going to look like! Perhaps, I should be worrying about what I'm going to put IN the book.
Rough Outline
Introduction of Me and my passion for the topic
Baking Tips/Advice ***think I need to move this to a different area (end?)
Baking Techniques-icing, decorating
Bakeware-pans, decorating utensils
Cookies
Desserts
Breads
Cupcakes
Cakes ***put with cupcakes? in one chapter?
Fancy Drinks- coffees, teas etc
end???
I think that it's important to have an outline for my book. It's kind of like a map...I need to know where I'm going so I don't get lost in the process. That's all for now.
