Quantities:

Most printers will have minimum limit, but the more books ordered, the higher the discount they provide. For example, there can be more than a 55% discount per book, when ordering 1000 books.

Binding Types:

Perfect Binding - Soft and Hard Cover (min 50 pages)
This is the most common used binding for paperback books. An adhesive is used to securely bind the book pages to the cover. This creates a firm, yet versatile binding that will last for years. We recommend at least 50 pages for best results, but may be able to bind fewer pages, depending on your book.

Smyth Sewn - Hard Cover Binding (min 50 pages)
Smyth Sewn (section sewn) book bindings are the highest quality book bindings available. The pages are physically sewn into the book using binders thread and further reinforced with fabric backing and adhesive to create the most useable and durable books available. These books are the most expensive to produce.

Wire Binding
Continuous loops of wire allow for a binding that lets the book's pages layflat when opened.
Commonly used for binding items like map books.

Spiral Binding
A flexible binding coil of wire or plastic is used to allow the book to lay flat.
Commonly used for binding items like cook books.

Saddle Stitched - stapled on spine (Max 48 pages)
These are commonly used on books with a small amount of pages. They are the least durable, but most affordable binding type.

Book Interior Pages:
Black & White pages are more economical to print then color. If you are looking for the most affordable options for your book project, you may want to consider limiting the amount to color pages.

When calculating the amount of color pages in your book, please note that you should also include the back of any color pages in your calculation, as both front and back will have to be printed on a color printer.
Any color on a page, will make that page and it's back considered color pages.
There is usually a small fee for inserting color pages in to a Black and White book. If you can keep your color pages to one section of the book, this will save on insertion fees and printing costs.

Book Cover Printing:
Most book printers will include the cost of a full color laminated cover in there printing costs. Laminating your cover will protect the cover and increase the life span of the book.
If you plan to sell your book you’ll also need a ISBN and Barcode on your cover.

Dimensions (Finished Size)
You’ll need to select a size for your book. Most book printing companies will have a list of sizes you can choose from. Some will also be able to-do custom sizes if need.
The most common book sizes are 6"x9" and 5.5"x8.5". Photo books are usually larger at 8”x10”

"print ready" PDF files

Most book printers prefer PDF files that are ready to print as is. There are sometime extra charges if they have to print from anything else.
